TimeWise Schools
Decision Support for Education Leaders
What We Do
TimeWise Schools helps education leaders design the schools their kids and teachers need with the resources they have.
We help leaders achieve their strategic priorities, launch new, innovative programs, and enable high quality teaching and learning by leveraging existing, time, talent and resources.
Each district is unique, so TimeWise doesn’t push a particular philosophy of resource allocation, instructional programming or school design. Rather we provide options and you decide what works for your context. Whether leaders need to answer specific resource questions or take on school-level redesign, TimeWise helps make the most effective decisions possible.
Who We Are
Marilyn Crawford, PhD
TimeWise President and Lead Design Expert
Drawing upon decades of experience in making schools work for all kids, Marilyn Crawford created a strategic approach to redesigning time and talent as a powerful strategy for school improvement. She has led its application in districts and schools across the country.
Marilyn has served as an award-winning teacher, principal, central office leader, and education consultant recognized for improving student achievement. In early 2000, Marilyn founded TimeWise Schools, a group that specializes in practice-friendly innovation in education. TimeWise works with district leaders to design policies and resource allocations that improve teaching and learning, increase efficiency, and further student equity and access. Marilyn’s efforts include designing master schedules that created time for teacher collaboration embedded throughout the school year, without need for additional resources.
Marilyn holds a Ph.D. in education leadership from Vanderbilt University and is the co-author of The Productive High School with Joseph Murphy, Vanderbilt University, and Updraft-Downdraft: Secondary Schools in the Crosswinds of Reform.
